New inazuma eleven seems like a really good game for studying since it has simple vocabulary and takes place in normal world

It also seems to be hookable. Following the Atelier Sophie tutorial i easily find spots where the text appears in memory while it's on the screen

But I'm a total zero with cheat engine / reverse engineering so i can't figure out what i should actually hook to, whatever I'm trying i either get errors or empty strings.

Strings seem to be stored in memory in this format
[全国的/ぜんこくてき]にはサッカーは[人気/にんき]かもしれないが[俺/おれ]は[別/べつ]に[興味/きょうみ]ないし　どうでもいいな。

regex to get rid of furigana would look like this (from the ni no kuni script)
line.replace(/\[([^/\]]+)\/[^/\]]+\]/g, "$1")

I'll try my hand at it when im back from holiday next week. Game seems really good for learning, I played all the the 3ds games with furigana, it was amazing.
