New inventory

REASONS (probably bad ones):

• unified inventory is kinda old, and i dont wanna deal with it, and it would be interesting to make a new inventory

FEATURES i want:

• fully resizable and adjustable layout suitable for all screen sizes (probably complicated)
• crafting grid should be entirely optional, but still visible/interact-able
• a way to see what things you can currently craft
• a way to favorite items, maybe could call it staring/unstaring an item because space

I'm coming back around to my thoughts on the crafting grid, somewhat at least. Trying to learn to play Age of Mending, and I find that being able to just put a log into the grid to see what happens would have gotten me more quickly to planks than searching through the menu.

Another thing AoM seems to have trouble with for me is that there's no mouse-over text on the crafting tabs to indicate what they represent, and there's just a slew of things you could at some point craft shown by default rather than what is immediately relevant to the player when they're first learning the game.

I really think SBZ already does things better than AoM in most regards just by having Unified Inventory Plus providing quick access to recipes based on search and back-and-forth ingredient/recipe context switching.

I agree about keeping the grid recipes at least as an option because that would mean people don't need to search on repeat playthroughs if they've already memorized something. Manual Crafters and Autocrafters make it not so cumbersome either.

I dig the thought of phasing it out in importance over time though if we have more in-universe immersive means of accomplishing things though. Spitballing a probably bad idea as an example, but, for instance: If matter dust collected above a node, and you hit it with something to turn it into a matter blob block.

We already have machines taking the place of crafting recipes with things like ore dust to ore blocks. It's just feels a lot less abstract to me compared to things like Minecraft where you have freshly baked bread just by lining up three pieces of unprocessed wheat inside a crafting grid. That crap's nonsense.

I take back some of what I said about AoM's crafting recipes. I just realized I was defaulted to creative mode from playing a different game with it enabled. Craftables are at least at the top and the background colored differently when not in creative mode. So it ain't all that bad, actually.
