Officially supported Android versions

For Version 2.0 we need to make a conservative promise of support.

If we go with 4.4 as the lower limit we will support almost 80% of the current deployments.
If we go with 5.0 we are at around 50%
Most conservative approach would be 6.0 with less than 10%

I'm generally always for latest version support unless it proves to be extremely difficult or impossible (where "extremely difficult" = we've tried it and we've lost more time than we'd like or we've tried it and it doesn't work).

I'm not sure what we've already tried, but if we haven't already invested too much time, I'd prefer to try for the latest version.

I was referring to backwards compatibility, for me supporting latest is a MUST.

So:
7.0 - definitely yes
6.0 - definitely yes
5.1 - probably
5.0 - probably
4.4 - likely
4.3 - unlikely
4.2 - very unlikely
4.1 - very unlikely
4.0 - definitely no

Ahh sorry, I should've read more carefully :)

So I completely agree with you.
If we can trust the infographic, I'd say we probably need up to 5.0, I don't think we need to go lower.
