Didn't find 'model_service.sh' file in the rollouter container

I'm trying to train the model according to thre README.md file, but I couldn't find 'model_service.sh' file neither in project folders nor in rollouter container. How can I excecute the command sh model_service.sh?

Yeah, exactly. We intentionally didn't pack the code into the image, so you still need to use -v to mount your local workspace into the Docker container.

We have packed the conda env into the docker.

And there's another question: In the "dart_rollouter" directory, I can't find the config information, which needed by "src/run.py" and "src/run_model.py".

But there are some config files in "rollouter" directory, and it seems that some code files are similar with the files in "dart_rollouter" directory. Does this mean the "rollouter" is just a temperory working direcotry copied from "dart_rollouter"?

Is it ok if I copy the config directory into "dart_rollouter" and run the scripts mentioned in README.md file?

You are absolutely right. We have added a config_example.yaml file to address this. Please pull the latest code to access it.

Regarding the directories, rollouter was indeed a duplicate of dart_rollouter. We have now removed the rollouter folder to avoid further confusion.

I can run the step 1 script in part 5 now, and it seems vllm engine running on my 4 gpus successfully.

Now I'm preparing to run the script in step 2:

cd dart_rollouter sh run.sh

Here I have only 1 machine which has 500G memory and 128 cpu, so I guess I do not need to attach to the already running containers and just run the script on the machine? But there is no "verl" environment on it (and I don't know how to build the environment).

So I try to attach to the trainer container and run the script again, it fails and report: No module named 'playwright'.

Do I still have to attach to one of the containers and run the above script? And which container should I attach to?

Hi! Yes, you should attach to the container to run the script. The python env for rollout is installed via conda (different from the python used for training: /usr/bin/python)

For the error, it seems the environment isn't set up. You can try activating the conda environment first:

source ~/miniconda3/bin/activate
conda activate verl

Or, you can simply install the missing dependencies using requirements.txt:

pip install -r requirements.txt

I just tried to run the step 2 script on my bare host machine (not in the trainer container, I guess the container should be used to run step 3 script?) after install "ray[default]" and "mysql-connector-python", what it reported seems to be a mysql connect error. Actually I can access mysql database using DBeaver without problem:

Hi! It is not mandatory to run inside the container if your local environment is set up correctly. Looking at the log, the crash happens because the program cannot find the OSWORLD_BASE_URL environment variable (AttributeError: 'NoneType'...).

To fix this, you need to configure the .env file in the dart_rollouter directory:

Create the file from the example:

cp .env_example .env

Edit .env and make sure OSWORLD_BASE_URL matches the IP and Port you set up in the GUI-Docker-Env.

Please also double-check your config.yaml:

1. MySQL Configuration: Ensure the host IP, port, username and password are correct and accessible.
2. Model Service: Update the service URL/endpoint to match the VLLM engine address you started in Step 1.

To ensure everything runs smoothly, you can follow this order:

1. Start MySQL and configure the database.
2. Start the GUI Environment (Refer to GUI-Docker-Env).
3. Start the Model Service (Step 1).
4. Update Configurations (.env and config.yaml with correct IPs/Ports).
5. Run the script: sh run.sh.

After I copied .env file and run the "run.sh" script, it output a lot logs constantly, I guess it is running correctly?

I pulled the latest code and tried again. Following is my excecution steps:

1. Start MySql server by running:

After running the database service, I verified it by connect to the database using DBeaver successfully.

I pulled the latest code and tried again. Following is my excecution steps:

1. Start MySql server by running:

  mysql:8.0.44-debian

After running the database service, I verified it by connect to the database using DBeaver successfully.

2. Run the vllm rollout service:

I encountered the same issue. It might be because the timeout for the virtual machine startup in the code repository was set too short at 30 seconds. After I changed it to 90 seconds, everything worked fine.
