[IMPROVEMENT] Downsize UI elements

Describe the improvement

UniGetUI Window elements and fonts are huge.

When installing multiple packages on a device with a smaller display, it's hard to navigate and see progress.
I found no compact mode option in settings either.

Hence, I request a compact mode, or one that matches other Windows 11 Apps in terms of scaling and font size.

Additional: Options to exclude certain elements from view in settings.

Describe how this improvement could help users

• It would help speed up the work, and having such large fonts and UI elements makes it hard to navigate, though I do admit it's easier to read.

• The large size is less accessible than a normally sized app, because the spacing between UI elements is not enough, which makes for accidental clicks.

I agree. Please reduce the size of the headings and the windows elements. the screen ui is huge so terms of scaling and font size are very helpful and necessary.

My display scaling is 150%, looks like the app incorrectly scaled.

Other apps for reference:

(notice the size of text and colors of text inside the pages region)
Some text uses textfillcolorsecondary on ui elements, to make it look less clutterred
Font sizes are not too far apart, while in the unigetUI window, you'll find the headings to be extrememly large, and the subtext right under it is way too small

Similarly a lot of the text in the window is too big and clumped together in the unigetui window.

Also reducing icon scaling would greatly improve navigability.

• Red frame = Elements/text are too large
• Orange frame = text too small
• Green frame = Design suggestions:
  • Make the refresh button larger and move it to the left
  • Move the search field to the bottom
  • Move the profile button to the old refresh button location and make it smaller
  • Move the entire navigation further up to utilize the freed-up space

Not shown:

• For the previous items, use the light blue color of the taskbar icon instead of the dark blue, and thus also color the category icons.
• Or use multi-colored icons (Fluent/Flat Design) to make the UI more colorful.

a) Will the graphic design suggestions from users here be implemented?
b) Is it possible to also offer a (light) blue theme for the GUI?
c) Please replace all icons with multicolored ones, as the gray icons are difficult to see.

mpt-gh I had noticed a few UI elements that were incorrectly sized with mixed DPI environments such as what I am using. This would be something to look into separately from additional themes, or the way icon caching currently works. I'll see what I can do about the DPI-related issues.

I've made a first pass here, it's already more balanced for me with mixed DPI: #4460

I will close this issue for now - you can re-open new issues, but please make them more targeted fixes. The plan is to keep WinUI 3 for now, but we're going to begin a cross-platform Avalonia port soon. I can make quick fixes in WinUI, but we've got a chance to make deeper chances in the future Avalonia-based UI.
