Random error regarding BgNotReadyErr has been reported too often.

There are couple users this week that had been reporting the following error messages and wouldn't let them open that specific encrypted message they're trying to access:

Error: BgNotReadyErr: BrowserMsg.sendAwait(db) failed with lastError: Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist.

Issue occurs on Google Chrome: Version 1.78.102 Chromium: 136.0.7103.113 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional information from a user's perspective:

I see this on several (and I assume all) the past emails I have sent:....

I see the following message under a red banner that says "decrypt error"
Error: BgNotReadyErr: BrowserMsg.sendAwait(db) failed with lastError: The message port closed before a response was received.

then below I see this:

Extension not ready. Restarting the browser should help.
Error: Cannot get reply data for the message you are replying to.

Sometimes, this issue has been occurring when just trying to access the FlowCrypt browser extension from the popups/default.html and then randomly works just fine again (if I can recall it correctly based on my recent activies with it).

Hi @martgil, were you able to reproduce this issue on your side?
As I thought it's related to chrome extension auto-update, when user has Gmail page open during browser extension update. It probably causes service worker restart, which leads to Could not establish connection error.
Both reports are from yesterday, when our 8.5.11 release was published to chrome web store.

I can't reproduce it either, tried also changing from Chrome to Firefox to see if there's any difference but unable to reproduce either. As of later today, we haven't had any issues on that. Some says, it gets resolved on its own too and confirmed working fine after a few hours.

We are seeing a number of users hitting this error. Is there any troubleshooting steps or possible things you've seen to remediate this issue?

Hello @moojomoore, does this issue persist after browser restart? We think that after extension auto-update, it may not fully restart in some cases, and restarting the browser should resolve the issue.

@sosnovsky - The issue persists after browser restart and a restart of the device as well. We did get it to work by uninstalling the extension and re-installing it.

Thanks for your feedback! Another possible solution - open chrome://extensions/ and toggle FlowCrypt extension off/on, maybe it'll force extension restart.
