(feature request) Add an option for sort order

Albums are sorted newer first, I prefer to have the opposite.
Is it possible to either:

• add an option in the settings to finetune the sort order
• have new folder in the browsing with differents sorts (similar to the folders that groups the artists)

?

Hello, unfortunately we are limited by the subsonic api. Have a look at their site. There are discussions about these kind of topics. If endpoints offering what you ask are made available, I will make my best to add support for them in my plugin.

Hello, if you want, you can build using this branch. The "Oldest Albums" view is implemented there.
Or if you are ready to use docker images, I might build an image for you quite easily.

I assume you might also prefer to have some configurability so that the albums from an artists are shown from oldest to newest, am I right?

I will also add the other part, but I will leave the default like it is now: users might be used to this way of presenting albums. Or, simply no-one complained. Or no-one is using it ahah :-)

I think it is a me problem, as most audio services present how it was already (newer to older) 😉

Hello, I just wanted to implement this, but I found that I had implemented the feature already.
Just specify:

subsonicartistalbumnewestfirst = 0

in upmpdcli.conf and and you should have your albums (from an artist view) sorted oldest to newest.
I will add this to the documentation.

If you will be using docker anytime soon, keep in mind that not all configuration parameters (including this one) are mapped to container variables, but you can define an additional file which is appended to the upmpdcli.conf while during container startup. See here.
The number of configuration variables for the plugins is just too high to think to cover them all with environment variables, the effort is too big.

Hello, the new view that shows albums "Oldest to newest" along with "Newest Albums" is now in the master branch. Commit is this one.
I now realize that you probably only wanted to be able to configure how the albums are presented from an Artist view. However, having this option at the "Albums" level doesn't hurt I believe.

Back to you original request, you can now set your configuration statically with

subsonicartistalbumnewestfirst = 0

as mentioned before.

BTW, I was think about adding multiple entries for showing albums in different sorting mode, but wouldn't that make reaching the tracks even longer to do, with this additional click?

What do you mean? I don't understand what are you referring to. Maybe the option of have different ways of presenting the albums without the need of static configuration, using different entries and requiring the additional click?
