Add tests to existing code to protect functionality on future rewrites

Moq seems like a good library github for mocking in tests, will be adding that to the new project containing tests since it doesn't seem to be natively available.

Writing tests will probably encourage me to rewrite some of this stuff to break it up a bit also. We'll see...
