I would like to have the option to view the map in 3D (like Strava Flyover)

I use Osmand that has something similar, but it does not exist for PC

Give a reason why someone else should spend time on that request

This would be something that I think will catch the interest of many users (both expert and beginner), because it will help a lot to visualize the mountains and track profiles.

There was a 3D view in QLandkarte. Loads of work, a nice feature to show off, however with just a very low benefit. If I recall right only some pilots really needed the information. Everyone else played with it and stopped using it after a while.

That said, I do not see a point in spending excessive time into that feature. If someone else volunteers you are welcome. But this must be written very good, well documented with a special focus in maintainability. Else it's just another burden to keep it working.
