Find and collect datasets containing information about water

Velocity:

• It would be nice to be able to have data that reacts to weather events in a near-realtime manner.

Volume:

• For the moment I'll stick to local waterways. It would be nice to be able to locate any water feature within the United States

Value:

• This data needs to be representative of the trends regarding water flow, water management, and sourcing. It encourages the user to learn about their local resources in an explorative, exciting manner.

Variety:

• The database should collect from a variety of historical and current data sources and make inferences on how water is acting. Ideally government-sourced databases would be plentiful and public. Crowdsourced weather and mapping features should be considered.

Veracity:

• As we grow, I anticipate accuracy becoming a more important aspect of this project. One task will be to assess the quality of available data sources or the strength of the inferences that it can support.

I really enjoy the type of visualization that is provided through the USGS San Diego Hydrogeology survey

I haven't been able to get some USGS web maps to work, so this would be a good area to focus on in terms of providing useful visualizations that aren't necessarily available anywhere else.
