BUG: unable to login because of failing email dispatch

no changes made to my notifuse setup - but unable to login in 28.1.

I've traced the issue to smtp_ehlo_hostname - I didn't have that filled out in the postgres settings table.
And I think it was defaulting to smtp server domain in that case - however that is likely not supported by mxroute provider that I use, it likely wants a real notifuse domain to be used for reverse dns purposes I think .

For the fix - I just went to the pgadmin and updated EHLO setting manually:

  INSERT INTO settings (key, value, created_at, updated_at)
  VALUES ('smtp_ehlo_hostname', 'mah-notifuse-domain.healingslice.com', NOW(), NOW())
  ON CONFLICT (key)
  DO UPDATE SET
    value = EXCLUDED.value,
    updated_at = EXCLUDED.updated_at;  

but I should mention - same email configuration was working for me for months.

@pierre-b I think this might be worth addressing on two levels.

a) It would be helpful if these settings could be configurable in Docker Compose via environment variables. That way, if email stops working and I can’t log in, there’s still a way to fix the configuration without needing to manually edit the database. Otherwise, a broken email setup could effectively lock someone out of authentication entirely.

b) It would also be great to have a UI for managing the system email settings, ideally with a “test configuration” option before saving so users can confirm everything is working.
