PlayNite plugin testing #522

@Sixdd6

Description

@Sixdd6

I've finished doing some testing of the PlayNite plugin, these are the results.

Installing From PlayNite

  • GameVault Running in background

Game installs as expected, though as mentioned previously it opens the GameVault window to the front which disrupts controller-based input. Ideal solution is to display a progress bar for the install process, or failing that a "faux loading bar" which would simply display an animation to let the user know that something is infact happening.

  • GameVault Not running in background

Game does begin installing as expected however the download tab of GameVault displays the game twice, one that IS downloading and DOES install, and a second that never downloads/installs. After waiting for the game to finish installing one copy the user can then delete the other copy from the downloads page without issue, a little odd but no noticible problems arise.

UNinstalling From PlayNite

  • GameVault running in background

GameVault grabs focus and asks to uninstall. Ideally this should just be skipped entirely and just uninstall the game in the background, more seamless that way and doesn't break controller-based input.

  • GameVault not running in background

GameVault launches in background, game info page does not open and ask to uninstall but PlayNite thinks the game did uninstall as evidenced by its install status changing. (Tested this with a playlist in PlayNite that only displays installed games, the game was removed from the list automatically as if it had been uninstalled)

Launching From PlayNite

  • GameVault running in background

Launches as expected

  • GameVault Not running in background

GameVault launches in background, game does not start, Game monitoring from PlayNite still thinks game is running and can no longer launch or uninstall game without closing and reopening PlayNite

Final Notes:

While the PlayNite plugin does function as is I'd like to be able to use it in a way that completely removes the need for the user to interact with the GameVault client, so that it can be used entirely in fullscreen mode without the need for a mouse and keyboard. If you need any more information I'm happy to help test more.

Hope this testing helps refine the plugin further, Cheers.
