custom theme without NPM

I'm using (or trying to use) semantic ui without NPM. It basically works but I'm having trouble finding support this way. I want to use custom themes but in my README.md it says
**This package **does not support theming** and includes generated CSS files of the default theme only.**
and any support I find would just suggest to yet again "install" themes via the NPM.
What to do?
