Poor error reporting

1. I was trying to get these scripts to work, and there was some very poor error reporing.
   When my system clock was wrong, it reported an error "You are not an admin user!" rather than the reason the login failed. (expired timestamp) this made debugging the next issue hard.

2. the README should mention that the date format is in MM/DD/YYYY format, not the more normal DD/MM/YYYY, or it should be coded to work in iso8601 or yyyy/mm/dd
