add support for AVR-DA/DB/DD/EA?

Are there any plans to support the newer AVR-Dx and Ex chips? These are (at least partly) supported by the current avr-gcc 3.7 toolchain and the current versions of avrdude.

I just tried to append
"avr64da28": "ioavr64da28.h"
to the device_and_file.json list and as expected the device shows up now in the AVR device selector, the code also seems to compile, but the linting in VSCode does not import the settings from the correct io.h. Ctrl-click on <avr/io.h> brings up the correct file, but the device selection macro does not seem to be defined.

But the same is true for any other AVR device from the list it seems...

hello, sorry i took long to see this.

yeah i have to admit that i did not do the best job at implementing the linting 😅; as i was focusing on the compilation parts mostly. I can try to look into this - and possibly also update the device_and_file.json with new files or better ways to build the devices list....But I won't promise much on the linting...(sorry in advance)

hello, sorry i took long to see this.

no problem I have been and still am busy with other things right now. I will be happily testing any changes and updates and for now I still have the fall-back for my upcoming students to choose the Arduino-based implementations and just swap the #include <Arduino.h> with an #include <avr/io.h> which links to the more modern tool chain.

I have been going through Microchip's documentations, and I have found that Microchip studio nowadays offers their own extensions that have better support for all those microcontrollers that you need. the link to the extension pack is here, and if you need to read more, check out this article, and also makke sure to download the MPLAB xc compilers to help you compile for & handle existing and future updates for the different microcontrollers that you may need in the future.

In my opinion, they handle the task way better - especially since they even already have a clangd extension which i was just recently planning to integrate into this extension - which provides better linting support, e.t.c.

All in all, please consider shifting to them since they are made by the official publishers of microchip studio - and they definitely know how to implement it better.
