Internationalization doesn't seem to work

Internationalization as described in Internationalization does not work. Note that my application does have application.properties on /src/main/resources.

When I put a messages file like admin_pt_BR.properties in the resources folder nothing happens.

for me it seems to work, for example the admin-template control-sidebar language changes accordingly to the user language (I'm using firefox language switcher extension to change language):

I've done the same test here with Firefox and that extension, with no success.
