I'm testing it and it only edits the icon colors, it's not making the background transparent.

Hi, sorry for the late reply I didn't notice the issue, now godot offers the feature of this addon directly through project settings since 4.5, you can enable immersive mode and it'll draw the app behind the notification bar and naviagation bar.
