Hm... not possible right now, the lib uses millis() to get the time. I don't know if the micros() function was available at the time I wrote it

It won't work. The parameter is an unsigned long and the function used to get the time is millis(), with a millisecond resolution

It's possible to change the lib to accept an arbitrary function that returns the current time, then replace the millis() calls with that function. millis() would be the default function, but you can set micros() or another function that returns an unsigned long. Then, it would be possible to have microseconds resolution without breaking the current behavior. Something like that

Timer timer;

timer.setTimingFunction(micros);

// Now the every time unit is measured in microseconds

// 100 microseconds interval
timer.setInterval(100);

...

Thank you for the hint.
In the meantime I have modified the lib by adding new argument (time_stamp) on setInterval function:
void setInterval(unsigned long interval, unsigned int repeat_count=-1, const char* time_stamp = "millis");

Then according to user choice for the third argument the Timer.ccp will use either millis() or micros().
Also, not using the third argument the lib will use by default millis(). So, it can be used just as before.
The good think is that every instance will use its own timestamp either millis() or micros().

If you find useful I can share the update.

I would like to call a function (in Arduino code) which is returning a bool value and takes one long argument like that:

Sure. The timer callback won't receive any parameters, so you have to wrap your function with another one. There is an issue about it here #3

The easy approach is to wrap your function on a lambda function.

timer.setCallback([] {
  callback_test(123);
});

This way you can pass any parameters you want to the callback_test function
