But it opens and runs fine in legacy opencor (the celml1.1 unflattened version), web opencor (the flat version), and myokit (once converted to myokit model).

Hi @FinbarArgus, if you are using libCellML 0.6.3 from PyPI then it might be the reason. Web OpenCOR, which also uses libCellML, uses a much newer version of libCellML. So, if at all possible, I would suggest to build your own Python wheel based off the main branch. Indeed, I understand that our infrastructure to build and release libCellML is currently unavailable or something. @hsorby?

That is correct. I am trying to find the time to re-instate the release process but haven’t managed to do that at this time. It is on my list of things to do.
