Outputting information to the log

Greetings, dear sir!
Please add a setting to the mod to enable or disable logging.
Currently, logging is always enabled, and while it's not exactly a nuisance, it's still a bit redundant. It would be great to have a setting that would allow moderators/users to disable this logging and enable these informational messages only when needed.
There can be quite a lot of them if several planet mods are added.

You are welcome to make a pull request for this mod setting, false by default, with a helper function to perform the guarding. This is a community project and it will likely be accepted.

The guarding helper should likely have an optional argument to disable the guard for critical messages.

Oh, I can easily make a local copy of the changes, but making a pull request through GitHub... unfortunately, I don't know how to work with that, and I still haven't learned how.
Can I send you the modified files, or is there some other way to do this?
