Hopefully, the App Actions API can be used to extend the functionally of app-commands beyond the simple "send" and "search" intents.

This is good, because "ACTION_SEARCH" seems to be an older mechanism that new apps rarely implement these days, but "search to app" is certainly one of the most desired use cases for a digital assistant.

If Google can do it, so can I. Hopefully.
