not sure if this is on topic, just throwing it out there:) very hazy pic is, when a player does list they 'see' everything seen by ships on their side - so kinda 'friendly ships share data via radio'? and then there could be some glitches on top of that? wouldn't be a huge surprise:) |

I just did a test and it looks like the known objects are any object within range of your side's ships. |

My understanding is everything is 'scanned' within a 10 sector square, and objects are flagged for your ship as being known. |

From my tests it seems that your side doesn't need to scan for you to know about an enemy (or neutral). They need to be in range. I haven't tested their radio being on, i'll do that next. |

Yes....What I mean by scan is not the 'scan command' |

This is confusing. In the 2.2 help doc, it says: If damage on a device is less than 300 units, its performance is degraded. If damage is 300 or more units, the device is inoperative. In my case I have a ship with the following damage: Device Damage Deflector Shields 73.4 units Why would this result in the intelligence being stopped? It doesn't seem to be doing it to the documentation (unless they mean the total ship damage > 300). All devices are below 300, I can't seem to find where it is controlled in the code. Any ideas where the intelligence is controlled? |

In my testing it seems that there is a list kept for each player of objects that are/have been within scanning range (10 sectors?) of the player. I assume if the object moves it is removed from the users list. This is 2.2, btw. In my testing I have been able to list planets that I have not scanned yet (via moving several times and then li pl), and also have been able to detect them using planets all 10 as well. My question is how this all works.
