Description
There’s two issues with the root term of FBbi (“method involved in biological imaging”).
The first one is that it has a weird ID: http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/FBbi_root_00000000 (or FBbi_root:00000000 in CURIE form), instead of http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/FBbi_00000000.
It’s not that much of a big deal (especially since most users will likely never use the root term, they will use one of the terms below it), but it bothers me.
The second problem is that the root term is directly under owl:Thing, which means that the entire ontology does not integrate well (or at all, in fact) with other BFO-based ontologies (in fact FBbi is not a BFO-based ontology, precisely because its root term is not anywhere under a BFO root).
I am therefore considering (1) obsoleting FBbi_root:00000000, (2) create a new FBbi:00000000 root, (3) attach all current descendants of FBbi_root:00000000 to the new FBbi:00000000, and (4) attach FBbi:00000000 to a suitable term somewhere under a BFO root.
The tricky bit is the 4th point: which term under BFO would be suitable? And should we consider a COB term rather than a BFO term, on the rationale that COB is supposed to be the future for OBO ontologies? Still need to think about that.
