I encountered an error during my test as well, but it's different from yours. The error I got was:
UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0x8b in position 1: invalid start byte
This happened because the BookCorpus dataset is in .bz format, downloaded from:
https://storage.googleapis.com/huggingface-nlp/datasets/bookcorpus/bookcorpus.tar.bz2.

After specifying "plain_text" as the dataset name, it worked correctly:
bookcorpus = load_dataset("bookcorpus", "plain_text", split="train")
Your issue might be due to an incompatible version of the datasets library. Make sure your version matches the one specified in requirements.txt.
