Dropdown with edit: clearer association of newly opened widgets with parameter being edited

Suggestions include:

• open box right beneath parameter being edited
• use colors

My preferred suggestion would be to open it just above what's being edited, the same way that calendar popups already do. That may be require some JavaScript, but I think it would be the most obvious and clear, and avoids messing up the layout of the page (which for notebooks maybe isn't a big deal, but is a huge deal for a dashboard).

If not that, then yes, opening on the page but at the nested location (with some indication of the nesting) is a suitable alternative. I think trying to use color for this purpose would quickly get chaotic and would interfere with theming of the page where this appears.
