exception chain occurs in case of 504 error

Hey, There is a new problem in this buggish library. when 504 error retruns from httpclient's response.raise_for_status() method in causes a exception chain and infinally causes program exit even when using libraries methods in multithreading mode.
This problem along with others made this library unusable for me.
please fix this as soon as possible.
