Ok I edited splittun.sh and changed the awk in "function detectDefRouteVars()" for the ipv6 part:

Original:
read -r _def_gatewayIPv6 _def_interface_nameIPv6 <<< $(${_bin_ip} -6 route | awk '/default/ {print $3, $5}')

Modified:
"read _def_gatewayIPv6 _def_interface_nameIPv6 < <(${_bin_ip} -6 route show default | awk '{for(i=1;i<=NF;i++){if($i=="via")gw=$(i+1); if($i=="dev")dev=$(i+1);} print gw, dev}')"

That seems to work.
