Improve our readme file.

Our README.md is currently quite empty. We should add a few things:

1. A link to our API documentation
2. A link to human readable library documentation Maybe use gitbooks for that? What are the other options?)
3. A few example use cases (show some code samples)
4. More helpful information for potential contributors.
