I'm currently working on a project aiming at helping companies to estimate the environmental impact of their IA. I came across Code Carbon that is a great tool to measure these impacts. Good job! I recommand the use of this tool to the companies I help.
However, I'm a consultant in sustainability, and I only have few skills in programming. Therefore, I was wondering how Code Carbon manages to estimate CO2 emissions if the IA model is hosted in the cloud. I can easily understand how it works if the IA model is hosted on a personal computer or a private data center (because Code Carbon can detect the type of hardware and the power associated). However, when IA is hosted in the cloud, one need to know on which cloud instance it is hosted, because the hardware used depend on the cloud provider (Microsoft, Google, etc), and the type of instance. Does Code Carbon automatically recognizes the type of cloud instance ? Also, how does it consider server virtualization ?

Thank you very much.
