Vogue markup: line-by-line or not line-by-line?

After reviewing your code for Project Milestone 2, I left a lot of line-comments on one set of markup. Because it's just in line-comments on one commit, those won't be super easy to find later on as you keep working on your code and push new commits. So here's a link to help review and maybe make some decisions about how to handle the printed page in the magazine!

Basically, there's a project decision to make:

• Do you want to encode the lines on the page as printed (and if so, how)?
• Which page-layout details matter to capture in the main markup, and which could be described up in the teiHeader?
• Probably it's a good idea to work out a proof-checking workflow if you're transcribing from the screen...

Here are some of my thoughts - other teammates, please let me know if you agree or disagree, I don't want to commandeer too hard! [ Sidenote: I also wasn't able to look at the Milestone comments due to the current (as of writing) Canvas outage, so these might overlap some of that ]

1. I'm not entirely sure how useful line-by-line styled encoding would be for what we're trying to accomplish. While it does have a place in a lot of projects (I used a bunch of grammatical analysis including line lengths for a previous project), I think we're a little bit more focused on the contents. That's why I also think things like trying to combine words that are split across line breaks is something we have to take the precaution of doing. I'm specifically thinking of the practicality of putting this material on our website. For that, it is more important to have paragraphs and divs notated rather than specifically lines marked up.

2. I think that we should take note of figures like illustrations (especially when they're depicting clothing and patterns!) but keep the the ornamental borders to the TEIHeader? They should definitely be pointed out, but once again, they're not really a part of the content itself. If we're investigating changing trends, though, there's an argument to be made that they are a part of it, so we should have it somewhere.

3. For transcribing, I did cheat a bit and used one of those online image to text converters, as the ProQuest PDF formatting really does not like copy and pasting 😭 Due to the quality of the text, it seemed to pick up everything without misspellings. Putting it through one of those and then loading the resulting text file into Word or another processor and checking for red lines and broken up words worked in this instance for me. Maybe we could have someone on this for preparing the articles?
