Configure (or remove) leader lines?

I appreciate the leader lines on wider displays, but they are quite noisy on narrower displays:

Can something be done about that?

Normally, the report should show whitespace instead of these lines. Which terminal emulator and which kind of font do you use? Have you ever tried to use another terminal emulator and do you still see those lines?
