Logo and branding

Lots of discussions and ideas are happening in the Discord around a logo and official branding. I created this issue to make sure things don't get lost in the sea of messages!

It would be great to consider the vision and values when considering branding, reference this issue: #672

With a new logo comes all sorts of things and UI effort as well, so we'll need to create some nice compartmentalised issues when we come to some decisions.

Consider the following alongside a logo:

• fonts and typography
• UI colours (in light and dark mode, and perhaps respecting the theme switcher in settings)
• UI elements such as border radius and transitions
• brand documentation and guidelines on usage of logo and colours etc
• we probably shouldn't make the logo look too familiar to the npm logo itself, as there could be implications, would be good to read up on this: Review trademark implications of npmx name (or rename) #6

One suggestion: When talking about the logo we could put the "brand" color discussion aside (for now). Try to come up with a logo that works good in b/w or with one highlight color. This would make things a bit more focused and not let us throw away an otherwise good idea, because "I don't like this color". In the end the color shouldn't matter anyway and a good logo should work monochrome (color blindness). I also assume it won't be some logo with a lot of texture or gradients or what not.

I would say quite the opposite. I don't want to claim we are doing some super new web 4.0 thing here, but I still feel I would love the design to invoke some kind of "this is a new era" while still being familiar. And I think the logo and general branding would be the best place to have that kind of novelty.

Devs visit god knows how many framework/library/sass/plattform sites everyday and they all tend to look the same. Combined with the face that we are basically "just another NPM" we might get drowned out in the crowd for a lot of folks.

I think we need some good messaging around what makes npmx unique and then try to also convey tht in the branding.

@ermincelikovic did some nice designs in the Discord that go into an interesting direction. But I feel like we still need some soul searching to really figure out who npmx wants to be.
