Bitnami redis image deprecation

On the 29 Sep 2025 Bitnami stopped publishing the Redis container image we use in a number of applications.
I have temporarily moved us over to the legacy image - 8f01626

We need to port these applications to a new, supported container.

The official Redis container has no security hardening and is not suitable for a production environment.

Other users experiencing the same issue have recommended Rapidfort. We should research them first, but they look promising.

Researching Redis solutions, Rapidfort appears to be the best image for our needs.

I looked at two other potential solutions but dismissed them for the following reasons:

• ChainGuard - do not freely offer the version we need.
• iron-redis, - this image has not been updated for some time.

My only hesitation with Rapidfort is their lack of a public SLA.
I also feel they are not as frequent with updates as Bitnami or the official container.

Implementation

Bitnami had configured Redis for us pre-configuring many different settings.
The key setting for migrating between images is appendonly, this tells the new container where pick up our existing database and writes.

appendonly yes
appendfilename "appendonly.aof"
appendfsync everysec
save ""

This also needs setting in docker-compose.yaml

command: ["redis-server", "/redis.conf"]

The other Bitami changes are probably worth copying over too.
Rapidfort do not configure a redis.conf file.
