Changing the visibility of a plot

It would be useful to be able to control the visibility of a plot (not just hide/show the traces in a plot). This is because it takes a while to set up a plot, but with too many of them there is not enough vertical space on the screen. It would be useful to hide some plots in order to give more room for viewing the others, but then bring those back while hiding others.
