I also recommend renaming it from gegl_plugin to something else like "perlovkasmooth"

I notice its in Filters>Enhance named "GEGL Perlovka"

I think you should rename it "Degrain or "Degranulation" to be proper.

I suggest to use separate issues for distinct bugs/defects. Your remarks on naming have been moved in issue #3, I'll deal with them for sure.

You didn't provide original images for the issues with whiskers and text, and I can't tell what has happened to them.

My filter is intended to reduce granulation intensity. Obviously it makes changes in the image, so this operation can be considered "damaging". When you recode some music file from one format to another, part of its' initial data gets lost. When you do it several times, music quality significantly degrades. That is not because the codec is bad but due to its' lossiness.

I would not recommend to use Perlovka on the images which do not suffer from granulation because one can lose thin details and gain nothing instead. Good and evil balance gives no profit in such cases.

As I see on the screenshot LeastOfMax resolve mode has been selected in both cases. I would try the Minimal mode on whiskers: will it prevent the trichophytosis?

The text issue is not quite understandable. Did you mean you applied the filter to a text layer? I suppose GIMP keeps those as vectors. I would expect them to be converted to raster when provided as input to GEGL-op, but who knows? The only other reason of the damage I can assume is that Perlovka is not intended to be used on "cartoon" images: those with small amount of bright (or dull?) colors. For instance a simple red rectangle.

The plugin is compiled to library with name perlovka. Where did you see gegl_plugin? If you mean gegl_plugin.c, it's OK because we do a stand-alone plugin and there will be no confusion.

perlovkasmooth is a too long name. perlovka is both short and specific enough to be identified amongs other plugins =)

Filter's name in GIMP menu I changed to "Perlovka Degranulation" - it suits it better and allows to tell it from other degranulation filters (existing and future).

I moved plugin's layer within the source tree to separate it from the filter's internals.

Thanks for your archive! Meson is a new and unknown building system for me. I would target to CMake, but if GEGL stays on these rails, I'll better conform.

I'm not sure the building scripts you provided add comfort to the building process. As I have mentioned in the README, the building requires five simple commands =)
