Currently the analytics events published for MCP JSON-RPC calls are similar to rest calls.

MCP related analytics Dashboards need more information such as tool usage information including agent id integration.

📌 Update [09-02-2026]

Went through the carbon-apimgt codebase and familiarized with the existing analytics flow related to MCP request calls.

Key findings:

• The buildMCPRequest() method in MCPInitHandler.java already sets most of MCP parameters to the messageContext using the deserialized MCP request.

• These properties set to the message context above, can be then mapped to the analytics object using the getProperties() method of SynapseAnalyticsDataProvider.java.

Had a discussion with @Arshardh and it was decided to build upon the existing implementation of @AnuGayan. The following open PRs will be used as a starting point for this improvement work.

• Add MCP analytics support apim-analytics-publisher#139

In addition to the MCP tool-name and MCP method parameters introduced, Client information and other MCP related information need to be evaluated whether necessary to be included.
