[12:18] linkboss: because let's say you finish a level in 46s with 50 rings or more
[12:18] linkboss: your time bonus alone doesn't get you a continue, but with your ring bonus it does
[12:19] linkboss: and that gets back to the routing choice werster was talking about in #sonic-advance-series

[12:21] linkboss: then, if you get continues on a level where you don't make > 10k points purely on time, it's your fault because of rings
