The certificate looks to be from a Tech Fest. Are you an active member in a student community like NJACK or DSC? |
|
Hi, Yes, I’m currently a member of my college tech club, but I’ve been actively contributing to the tech community through different initiatives and activities. The certificate I shared is from a Tech Fest, where I received recognition for my contributions. At the moment, I’m not a core member of communities like NJACK or DSC, but I do participate in community-driven tech activities, open-source contributions, and collaborative projects whenever possible. I’m always open to learning, contributing, and growing within larger student communities as well. |
What tech club are you a member of? Is there a way for us to verify this?
The reason we ask for applicants to be Student Club members is because these clubs are usually responsible for conducting events where students might be told about AOSSIE. In contrast, Events like fests are more of a an annual occurence. |
|
I’m a member of my college’s tech club, where I participate in technical activities, peer learning, and event support when possible. However, the club does not currently have a public website or formal verification page like larger student communities (e.g., NJACK or DSC). Because of that, external verification is limited. That said, my interest in AOSSIE comes from my active involvement in the tech community beyond formal roles—including open-source contributions, helping peers, participating in tech events, and promoting technical learning among students. While tech fests are annual, I try to stay engaged throughout the year through consistent contributions and discussions. I understand why AOSSIE prefers applicants from established student clubs that regularly conduct events, and I completely respect that criteria. Regardless of the outcome, I’m genuinely interested in contributing to AOSSIE’s work and supporting the community wherever possible. |
|
Does the Tech Club conduct regular events where students might be informed about AOSSIE and Open Source? |
|
The tech club primarily conducts small, informal learning sessions, peer discussions, and occasional hackathons, rather than large, regularly scheduled public events. Information about open source opportunities is usually shared through internal group discussions. At present, these activities are not formally documented or publicly shared, but I am open and willing to help document future sessions, workshops, and hackathons and use them as a way to inform students about AOSSIE and open-source contributions more consistently. |

Okay, welcome to the Evangelists program! Please take a look at the recent changes to the rules (#33 ) and also fix the conflicts in the PR. |
|
Conflicts have been resolved by rebasing/merging with the latest main (PR #33). Thank you! |

Hey @M4dhav
Thank you for the approval and the kind words!
I’ve added a blank placeholder row for India below my entry, as suggested, to maintain consistency and allow for future evangelists.
Please let me know if anything else needs adjustment.

In `@Evangelists.md`:
- Line 46: Fix the Evangelists.md table row formatting and name capitalization:
in the row containing "IIT Patna | Tech Club | Ankit kumar| Active | ankit_94329
| ankitkr104" add a space after the first pipe so " | IIT Patna", add a space
before the pipe after the person's name so "Ankit Kumar |", and capitalize
"kumar" to "Kumar" (i.e., update the cell value "Ankit kumar" to "Ankit Kumar").
I am a university student from IIT Patna and an organizing member of the Coding Society. I'd like to participate in the AOSSIE Evangelist Program for 2026.
