RPSBS v1.51 "Retro Backup system Advanced DS!"

Major Changes PLEASE READ if you're coming from an older version!

I gave up on retro Pie after many recurring issues, I'll still support it, but I don't use it any more.

This new release will work with BOTH Retro Pie And recalbox! the setup should be exactly the same for both.

All you have to do, is download the proper one for your system, and rename it as backup

No .sh at the end needed.

In this new version, you'll need to put the 'drive' executable in the folder that has your rom folders.

For recalbox: /recalbox/share/roms/
For RetroPie: /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/

if you keep your games elsewhere (like an external drive, just put it in the directory that has all your rom folders "snes" "nes", "n64" etc)

Yes, I know this is annoying, but it keeps the file from getting deleted randomly.

Just pick the version you want,

backup_recal.sh= recalbox version

backup_retro.sh =RetroPie version

drive = needed for either.

If this if your first time setting up the program, just download the file you need, and 'drive' then follow the guide here!

yes, the guide is more written for retropie, just ignore, all the'/home/pi/RetroPie/' stuff, and replace with '/recalbox/share/' if needed.

'Drive' or 'gdrive sync' was created by pageauc.

I DID NOT create the that, and I take no responsibility for it's code,

I personally compiled it from the source code on my own RPI3, if you want to do that yourself,

you can find the code here: https://github.com/pageauc/pi-timolo/tree/master/source

BIG CHANGES since the last release!

Release version 1.4 now with auto sorting! and more!

Changes since 1.3:

  • Backups are automatically placed in folders for the Year, Month, and day!
  • New backups can be automatically synced to the google drive whenever you want! (every boot, every night. whenever!)
  • Backups can be managed on the cloud! (want to delete all your backups from last year?) just remove the folder on google drive, and it will be deleted from your pi too! (This can be turned off, if you'd like)
  • The google drive sync program is no longer backed up to google drive! (lol)
  • Better text output from the script! So you can better understand what's happening!

See Readme file for help setting this up!

Note, the version of drive induced was compiled by me on the pi3, but was not created by me! (unchanged since last release)

If You're upgrading, then please go back and check the readme file, as the auto cloud sync has been changed,

use 'sudo chrontab -e' and remove the line we added from the old setup.

Edit your local crons with 'crontab -e' and delete the old line, and make a new entry based on the readme

Also you'll need to rename drive to .drive (it may disappear when you do that, that's ok, it's just hidden)

V1.3 Now with Blast Processing™!

22 Mar 03:48

In Version 1.3 we now use a subfolder to store all your backups!
Exciting huh!

The reason this is done is twofold,
One, it keeps your google sync stuff and your backups separate.
And two, it makes a folder in google drive, this way you can easily share ALL your saves to your main google account!

There's a new variable in the script called archiveFolderName

That will determine the name of the folder where your backups will be stored. Feel free to change that to whatever you want.

If you've been using 1.2, you can choose to manually move your old backups to the new 'RetoPiSaves' folder or leave them in them in the root 'backups' folder. as both will be synced.
