Video Setup

Part of the reason we tried this in the first place, was that my buddy Sascha in Italy didn't have anyone to fly FPV with, so one day tried calling me on Skype. He then hooked in his FPV camera feed to his capture card, and his capture card was defined as his Skype camera. This gave me the chance to fly with him, and we found that the latency was really quite good.

So right now, as far as transmitting your video goes, the recommendation is to do the same. Sascha was using a Dazzle 100 card on Windows XP for our testing. I have struggled to find a capture card that will pop up as a supported Skype camera on my Mac, and although we've tried a few other streaming services, so far Skype has been the best solution.

Here's our video we made for the release of the code, in which we are using a 3G signal to send video and RC commands.

You should see many things in this, how the Skype screen looks from my point of view, and get an idea of the latency - which we reckoned was around 500ms

If you find something better, or even as good - then please let me know.
