This PR fixes issue #550 where compilation on Macs would fail with CMake >=4.
NB: Not all backends have been checked; if there is an issue with any of them, it should be enough to add "-DCMAKE_POLICY_VERSION_MINIMUM=${CMAKE_POLICY_VERSION_MINIMUM}" to the relevant CMake command.
