I'll review. That's a lot of file changes though for rules and sop |
I think they moved the NF Guidebook to HL, is why. |
Updated server rules by modifying sections and adding new rules.
Updated Section 5 to focus on Naming Rules, removing ERP-specific guidelines and adding new rules regarding name selection.
Updated Section 7 to focus on Powergaming Rules and added guidelines regarding bug exploitation.
Updated Section 8 to clarify End-of-Round rules and added details about safe zones.

sections 10- 13 along with the pirates code need to be added to the new serverrules location. I will be going over the SOP's now.

the SOP sections are either nonexistent or extremely restrictive or reductive as they don't specify much of anything, as well as the fact they are all starlight SOP sections and even list nanotraysen |
A little concerned that the one-to-one implementation doesn't accurately provide the necessary flexibility for the culture of Hardlight. There are a few places it is like this. |
I said it was a WIP, silly, I'll go over them now and convert them to hardlight |

Shouldn't a WIP branch rather be in the draft phase than having it active? |
About the PR
I updated the guidebooks with my interpretation of what the rules and SOP should be.
I understand this will take director and admin discussion to pass, but I despite looking shorter, I've actually added more rules I think are fair and reasonable. We just also had a lot of redundant rules I mixed together.
Note: At time of PR, the SOP and SPLAW is still a WIP. I'm basically tweaking Starlight and Frontier since they have extremely robust and fair systems, taking what I like from both.
Why / Balance
We are desperately lacking an SOP, and the rules had some redundancies and major ones missing.
Technical details
I reduced the rules from 12 to 9 categories by doing the following:
-Moved pirate code to antag rules, trimmed what I thought was unnecessary by instead giving them a simple objective "Steal, avoid needless murder." The logic behind this, is the second someone dies, the more heat they'll get. Life is easier when NFSD doesn't take you seriously.
-Moved powergaming and metagaming under RP rules, and expanded RP rules based on 30 years of online RP etiquette the internet has been using since before I was born.
-Expanded on consent rules. Players have a right to have admins secretly remove them from any scene without informing or punishing the other player, for those of us that like to avoid conflict. Alternatively, players must be at least warned about consent breaches before admins are involved, and consent tags should be fair and not outright prevent gameplay features like antag targets. For those who want to avoid gameplay systems, apartments can be their safe zone, plus we already have some perks that prevent being borged, zombified, or brainwashed. Essentially, this should make everyone happy.
