Installation Guide

This guide will walk you through the process of installing ARK4 Helper on your Windows computer.

System Requirements

• Windows 7, 8.1, 10, or 11
• .NET Framework 4.7.2 or higher
• 50MB of free disk space
• USB port for connecting your PSP
• Internet connection (for downloading ARK-4)

Download ARK4 Helper

1. Go to the Releases page
2. Download the latest version of ARK4 Helper (ARK4_Helper_vX.X.X.zip)
3. Extract the ZIP file to a location of your choice

Installation Steps

ARK4 Helper is a portable application and does not require installation. Simply:

1. Extract the downloaded ZIP file to any folder on your computer
2. Double-click on ARK4_Helper.exe to run the application

First-Time Setup

When you run ARK4 Helper for the first time:

1. You may see a Windows security warning - click "Run" or "More info" → "Run anyway"
2. The application will check for the latest version of ARK-4
3. Connect your PSP to your computer via USB cable
4. Enable USB mode on your PSP (go to Settings → USB Connection)

Verifying Installation

To verify that ARK4 Helper is working correctly:

1. Launch the application
2. Click the "Detect PSP" button
3. If your PSP is properly connected, the application should detect it and display the drive letter

Troubleshooting Installation Issues

If you encounter issues during installation:

• Windows SmartScreen Warning: This is normal for new applications. Click "More info" and then "Run anyway"
• Missing .NET Framework: Download and install the required .NET Framework from Microsoft's website
• Application Won't Start: Right-click the executable and select "Run as administrator"
• Application Crashes on Start: Check the debug log file in your Temp folder for more information

Updating ARK4 Helper

ARK4 Helper will automatically check for updates to the ARK-4 firmware. To update the ARK4 Helper application itself:

1. Download the latest version from the Releases page
2. Extract and replace the old files with the new ones

Uninstalling

To uninstall ARK4 Helper:

1. Simply delete the folder containing the ARK4 Helper files
2. Optionally, delete the debug log file from your Temp folder
