@TokisApps, thanks for your contribution! After having looked through the files of your commit, my main concern is that they might be too specialistic to be included in the Polygen main repository, which mostly contains a selection of sample grammars just to provide end users with something to start playing with and learn. If I've understood correctly, the files you have submitted are some sort of procedurally generated music format which can be played. Is that correct? The fact that understanding their purpose requires further investigation (and calls for further documentation, which is currently not included in the pull request) seems to further confirm that these assets are too specialistic for inclusion in the sample grammars. Bare in mind that when we created this repository we even purged a considerable number of the original grammars that historically shipped with the Polygen package, partly because we wanted to keep the samples down to a reasonable size, but also because we decided to filter out contents that were (or could have been perceived as being) offensive, and during the process we purged some grammars that were considered too specialized in their target use (i.e. being too format or application-field specific). We have allocated the repository Wiki as an open community space where users are free to add reviews and links to their own Polygen-related projects, grammars, etc. Maybe it would be a better solution if you create a dedicated repository for your music-grammars, and then use the Polygen Wiki to promote them. This way, your grammars will be independent from the Polygen repository (which isn't being updated frequently, BTW) and you'll be able to further develop them independently, and even accept third party contributions by other users who work with that music format in conjunction with Polygen. How does this proposal sound to you? |

Sorry for the late reply, I bump what Tristano said. This repo is not the right place for that kind of contribution. At most, you could commit your stuff to the polygen-grammars repo (which you already did somehow, if I got it right). |
