Summary of Changes

Hello @yrezgui, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request focuses on a comprehensive update of static asset URLs throughout the repository. The primary goal is to migrate asset references from older or less specific Google Cloud Storage paths to a standardized androiddevelopers/samples_assets bucket. This ensures all components correctly fetch their required media and data from a consistent and up-to-date location.

Highlights

  • Static Asset URL Standardization: Updated numerous static asset URLs across various files to consistently point to the androiddevelopers/samples_assets Google Cloud Storage bucket. This includes video URIs, catalog URLs, and image paths.
  • Configuration File Updates: Modified movies.json, detail_example.json, live_movie_debug.json, movie.json, and api.json to reflect the new asset locations for video sources, thumbnails, and backgrounds.
  • Codebase and Documentation Alignment: Adjusted hardcoded URLs in Java and Kotlin source files (e.g., VideoConsumptionExampleFragment.java, VideosRepository.java, FakeVideoRepository.kt), string resources (strings.xml), and documentation (CAST_CONNECT.md) to match the updated asset hosting.

🧠 New Feature in Public Preview: You can now enable Memory to help Gemini Code Assist learn from your team's feedback. This makes future code reviews more consistent and personalized to your project's style. Click here to enable Memory in your admin console.

Code Review

This pull request updates static asset URLs across multiple files. The changes are mostly correct, but I've noticed that in JetStreamCompose/jetstream/src/main/assets/movies.json, the updated videoUris are using http instead of https. Using unencrypted connections for content can be a security risk. I've added a comment with a suggestion to switch to https for all video URIs in that file.

security-high high

For security, it's best practice to use https for all URIs to encrypt data in transit. This prevents man-in-the-middle attacks where an attacker could intercept or modify the video content. Please apply this change to all videoUri occurrences in this file.
