Hey so just tested out the ROS1 install and examples. I ran into a couple issues so made some fixes/improvments.

  • cf_msgs dependency for catkin build
  • improved build instructions
  • added path variable to launch files and instructions in the readmes

It is also worth noting that the two LIO datasets have inconsistent directory structures once downloaded. I think it would be good to fix this but I obviously can't myself. The paths in the launch files could then also be made more consistent if this was fixed.

Also the visualisations I see in rviz are super slow / laggy. I get about 1 fps. Should I be seeing the equivalent of the GIFs?

Optimizing the point-to-plane coefficient util (from LOAM module) seems to increase speed. Still struggling from overall low latency, but a bit of trick seems to resolve this.
Looking forward to additional reviews.
