This PR fixes issue #36 by replacing os.geteuid() and os.getuid() with a cross-platform check for administrator/root privileges.
Those methods don’t work on Windows and would otherwise cause break errors.
Now the code works safely on both Unix/Linux/macOS and Windows. I saw this issue and I'm happy to help.
