NixOS Unstable

🧪 brew

My NixOS configuration.

Architecture

A flake-based NixOS configuration using the dendritic pattern with import-tree for modular organization. All modules are automatically discovered and imported, but each is gated by an enable option so hosts selectively activate what they need. Secrets are managed with sops-nix and user environments with home-manager.

Tooling

Tooling Name
Editor emacs

Terminal kitty
Shell zsh
Launcher wofi
GTK Theme Dracula

  • User tools — kitty, zsh, zoxide, starship, git, gh, fzf, bat, direnv, btop, autojump, zathura, firefox, beets
  • Services — Ollama, Atticd, Docker registry, remote/distributed builds, Restic backups, apcupsd

  • Security — sops, GPG, keychain
  • Hardware — PCIe passthrough, PipeWire

Overlays

  • emacs — Emacs Unstable with PGTK backend and custom packages

Motivation

NixOS lets me track and manage my Linux configuration in a declarative centralized manner, something missing in other distros. For more information on the advantages of Nix see the guide on How Nix Works.
