Cap on Pen is an unofficial event that involves removing the cap from the top of a pen and putting it on the tip as fast as possible. It has been done at several competitions; most recently, it was held at OKC Unorthodox Blocks 2025. It was one of the most popular unofficial events there, with 18 out of 36 competitors registered and 26 people ultimately getting a result.

Sounds ouchy. 😆

Some thoughts:

  • I think the icon name should be cap_on_pen.
  • If the pen is rotated nearly 45°, I would just go for 45°.
  • If the cap was separate from the pen, could that help make the icon more distinct?

  • I agree with your first two points.
  • If we are going to separate the cap and the pen more, I think the cap should also be 45°.
  • What about something like this?
