Since it’s pretty common to keep .gitconfig in a public repo, I changed the recommendation to use an alternate config file, that git config also reads from (see FILES in the man page).
This file contains hidden or bidirectional Unicode text that may be interpreted or compiled differently than what appears below. To review, open the file in an editor that reveals hidden Unicode characters.
